100% old-vine Garnacha from the Alto Alberche sub-zone of Sierra de Gredos. Sierra de Gredos is known for having a mosaic of soil types and especially difficult growing conditions, which lead to extremely thought provoking wines. The Garnacha is sourced from the villages of Villanuenva, Navatalgordo and Burgohondo, from organic, bush-trained vines, at 900 to 1170 meters of altitude on sandy granitic soils. After being pressed and aged for eight months in used French oak and stainless steel, the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered, with an intense silkiness and energy that jumps out of the glass. It has flavors of wild strawberry, red cherry, and minerals, that will complement delicious red meat stews, and heavier poultry dishes.
