This Col Fondo, or Italian Pet-Nat is made from mostly Glera blended with local white varieties. Massimo Coletti's vineyards are 50 km north of Venice in the rolling hills of Colle Umberto, where Prosecco production meets a level of quality enjoyed by few others in the region. The pebbly, calcareous soils of San Fior expose the grapes to an intense minerality and fruit without being too overpowering or esoteric. Coletti is committed to being a "Grower-producer", and for Prosecco this is extremely uncommon. The wines are driven by quality and excellence rather than by quantity. Via Larghe is one of Massimo's original vineyards, at the heart of his estate and is his tete de cuvée. It tells the complete story of what Prosecco should be and what the region is all about. The wine is characterized best by intense floral aromatics, minerality, and juicy orchard fruit flavor. Pair it with your favorite ceviche or sardine and potato croquettes with roasted veggies.
