The Story

From the Importer:

  • Single malt Scotch whisky selected and bottled by Single Cask Nation
  • Cask #171958
  • 100% unpeated barley
  • Distilled at an undisclosed Speyside distillery
  • Aged 16 years; matured 13 years in ex-bourbon and finished for 3 years in a refill Pedro XimĂ©nez sherry hogshead
  • Distilled October 2007 and bottled July 2024
  • 216 bottles produced
  • Bakery-forward aromas of warm granola, toast with butter, and lemon bars lead to a palate of vanilla custard, caramel, and oatmeal cookies with dark fruit before finishing with soft toffee, brown sugar, and coffee grounds
  • No added coloring
  • Non-chill filtered; bottled at a cask strength of 60.9% ABV

Though the label cannot display this bottling’s source, the name cites the monastery, Pluscarden [PLUS•car•den] Abbey, with which the distillery shares its grounds. The distillery’s light and more-ish malt contributes to one of Scotch whisky’s most popular blends, and it pairs perfectly here with an ex-PX sherry cask to create an inviting—and exclusive—single malt dram.
