The Story
This wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo, from the terraced mountain vineyards of Sassella, the famed subzone of Valtellina in the larger region of Lombardia. Convento San Lorenzo is quite a sight as well, and is quite literally a fortress towering over Sassella's largest mountain. As for the wine, this is mountain Nebbiolo in purest form. It is everything you could want from a wine: structured, persistent but extremely balanced tannin, and intoxicating gamey, meaty aromatics. We would pair this with venison stew, or extra juicy lamb quarter-pounders.
