The Story

This is the cellar-stuffer.  If you're going to lay some Barolo into the gas tank to have on hand and crush with a nice steak, or at the end of a long week, this is IT.  Indeed, in recent memory at a tasting with Shop friends/clients and winemaker Vittore Alessandria, while we had open some truly fabulous wines stretching back into the '90s, the showstopper of the evening, for me and others, was a 2006 bottling of this wine, Alessandria's more minor expression...absolutely delicious and age-worthy!

The wine strikes a harmonious blend of lifted red fruits and deep macerated black cherries, marrying high tones with rich bass notes. A savory embrace circles the fruit, maintaining balance, while fine tannins lay the groundwork for graceful aging. This is a wine poised for evolution, its intricate layers promising to unfold beautifully over time. Drink 2025 - 2045. (JP) (9/2024) Wine Enthusiast

Bright ruby in color, the 2020 Barolo Del Comune Di Verduno is fresh with aromas of sweet red strawberries, fresh orange, a hint of pepper, and dried earth. Its freshness and elegance continue on the palate, where this medium-bodied red offers fine tannins, balance, and finesse, with a clean, refined feel of strawberry and spice. A beautiful wine, it’s going to drink well over the coming 10 years. (AF) (5/2024) Jeb Dunnuck

Aromas recalling forest floor, dog rose, culinary spice and citrus form the alluring nose. Linear and elegant, the savory palate features juicy pomegranate, sour cherry, star anise and white pepper alongside polished tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced. (3/2024) Kerin O'Keefe
