This wine is made of 100% Barbera. Part of the vineyard, located in Barbaresco, was planted in about 1930, and is responsible for the wine's intensity and concentration. It is velvety but with fresh acidity, and complex aromatics of red berries, and floral and spice notes. On the palate raspberry and tart cherries are strong, but tied together with good structure and body. A wine for any part of the meal, it goes with pasta, soups, and pies, and is good for cooking sauces and meat stews. We'd do a lamb ragu with bucatini and a dollop of burrata on top.
